About

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher (PRIN Project: “Semantics of European Affectivity: Lyric Poetry”) and a Fixed-term Lecturer in Philology of Italian literature  at “Sapienza” University and at “Tor Vergata” University (Rome).
As a specialist of Italian medieval literature I have focused mainly on Cavalcanti and Dante’s poetry.

I received my Ph.D. in 2005 with a thesis on Guido Cavalcanti’s lexicon which won the national “Aldo Rossi” price (best doctoral thesis in Italian philology). In my thesis I aimed to show how Cavalcanti renewed the language and the representation of the Lyric Self. The results of this research were published in the book "Cavalcanti poeta. Uno studio sul lessico lirico" (Roma: Nuova Cultura, 2008) and in my recent edition of Guido Cavalcanti’s Rime (Roma: Carocci, 2011).

Other studies in the field of medieval and modern literature (from Arnaut Daniel to Leopardi) have been published in international journals, conference proceedings and in my books "Stilnovismo cavalcantiano e tradizione cortese" (Roma: Bagatto, 2007) and (with Giorgio Brugnoli) "Studi leopardiani" (Pisa: ETS, 2000, 124).

After finishing my PhD, I have worked as a researcher on various projects of “Sapienza” University (including a semantic database of affective lexicon of Romance poetry).

At present I experimenting new approaches to study the lexicon and the psychology of emotions (particularly Fear) in Dante’s Commedia and in medieval literature. I am also preparing a new edition of Lapo Gianni’s Rime. In the near future I intend to turn my attention to the re-invention of the Lyric Self and its relationship with the audience.
